SUPERINTENDENCY
The Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a peripheral authority of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and it guarantees the protection of the cultural heritage in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
During Second World War, the “Royal Superintendency of Monuments and Galleries of Venezia Giulia and Friuli”, established in 1923 with headquarters in Trieste, was directed by Fausto Franco, appointed superintendent in 1939. The Architect and Inspector Umberto Piazzo was responsible of the Friuli area and he kept in continuous contact with Someda de Marco.
The Photographer Giacomo Sterle was employed by the Superintendency.
